Merge Images

Merge images into one picture side by side, stacked or in a grid. Nothing is uploaded, there's no sign-up, and you can run it as often as you like.

How to Merge Images Side by Side, Stacked or in a Grid

Merge images with five settings and a live preview that updates as you change them.

  1. 1

    Add 2 to 20 images

Drop JPG, PNG or WebP files on the tool or click to pick them. Drag the thumbnails or use the arrows to set the order, and remove any you don't need.

  2. 2

    Choose a layout

Side by side puts every image in one row, Stacked puts them in one column, and Grid wraps them into rows of 2 to 6. A before and after pair suits Side by side; a run of phone screenshots suits Stacked.

  3. 3

Pick a size mode and alignment

Same height (Same width when stacked or in a grid) scales every image to the largest one, so small images get enlarged. Original sizes keeps each image's own pixels, and Align lines them up at the top, center or bottom (left, center or right when stacked).

  4. 4

    Set spacing, border and background

Spacing adds 0 to 200 px between images and Border adds 0 to 200 px around the outside. Fill both with one of five swatches, a color you pick, or transparent.

  5. 5

Save as JPG, PNG or WebP

The line under the preview shows the output size in pixels, and Download saves the file at that size. A transparent background saved as JPG comes out white.

Combine Images Without Uploading Them

What happens to your files when you merge images here, and where this tool stops.

  • Your images stay on your device

This tool opens and joins the images inside your browser tab, then saves the file straight to your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, and no AI touches the pixels.

  • No sign-up, no cap on runs

There's no account to create and no limit on how many merges you make with this tool. Change a setting and the preview redraws, with nothing to wait for on a server.

  • File limits

Up to 20 images, each up to 50 MB, in JPG, PNG or WebP. HEIC photos aren't supported, so save them as JPG first.

  • Very large merges get scaled down

When a layout grows past what the browser canvas allows, the tool shrinks the whole layout to fit and says so under the preview. The exact limits are in the FAQ below. We've tested the tool in Chromium browsers such as Chrome.

Frequently asked questions

Add both photos, keep Side by side and Same height, and click Download. You get one picture with both photos at the same height, plus whatever spacing and background you set. Pick Stacked instead to put one above the other.

It depends on the photos. Two shots in the same orientation read most clearly side by side at the same height, with a few pixels of spacing as a divider. When one photo is much smaller, pick Original sizes so it isn't enlarged, and center it. If you want the two blended into one scene rather than placed next to each other, that's an AI job for Image Blender or AI Image Combiner.

Save or export them as files first, then merge images here; this page works on files and doesn't connect to a Photos app. JPG, PNG and WebP open here. HEIC, the format many iPhones save in, isn't supported, so export those as JPG.

You may not need an app at all. This page lets you merge images for free in your browser, with nothing to install, no account and no limit on runs. For a collage in a fixed shape such as a square post, the Collage Maker on this site fits better.

Placing images side by side doesn't change them, but two choices matter. Same height or Same width enlarges smaller images to match the largest, which can soften them; Original sizes avoids that, though a layout above the canvas limit is scaled down in every mode. The format matters too: in our test with noisy images, the same 16384x3641 merge was a 14.8 MB JPG and a 125.7 MB PNG.

You can merge images up to 20 at a time, each up to 50 MB. The finished picture can reach 16,384 px on a side and about 100 megapixels. A larger layout is scaled down to fit, and the size line under the preview tells you: in our test, three 6000x4000 photos side by side came out at 16384x3641.

Yes. Choose transparent as the background and save as PNG or WebP, and the spacing and border stay see-through. JPG has no transparency, so those areas are saved white. To join transparent PNGs or put images in a PDF, the PNG Merger is built for that.

Pick Grid and set Images per row from 2 to 6: four images at 2 per row make a 2x2 block. Align sets whether images sit at the top, center or bottom of their row, and Spacing sets the gap between cells.

Under two seconds in every merge we timed on a laptop in a Chromium browser. Four mixed images, the largest 4200x3000, merged side by side into a 14950x3000 JPG in 0.5 s; the same four in a two-per-row grid saved as WebP took 1.2 s.

No. It places your images on one canvas and adds the spacing, border and background you choose; nothing is redrawn or retouched. To blend two pictures into one image, use Image Blender; to put people from separate photos into one scene, use AI Image Combiner.
